Hate Has No Home In Hingham
Join us this Sunday, August 2, from 11am-12pm (meet near the Gazebo), as we stand together to recognize that every person deserves to feel valued, appreciated, and most importantly, safe from intimidation and fear in Hingham and our country. We have been disheartened by the discord over recent events here. We seek to unite rather than divide, to find common ground that we can build on to move forward and demonstrate the values our community stands for. We recognize the dignity of those who have chosen to serve and protect us and acknowledge different perspectives, but we completely reject any divisive symbol that encourages hatred and evokes fear within our community, whether intended or not. We believe that supporting people of color and supporting Hingham’s police, firefighters and other first responders who serve our community are not mutually exclusive. This year has tested the resilience and patience of our community and our nation. We know that not only can we weather these challenging times, but we can emerge more united and more supportive of one another. This will require all of us to reflect, listen and open our minds and hearts. Please join us in this step forward to build a more inclusive community. Everyone is encouraged to wear their town apparel and join us to show that there is no room for intolerance in Hingham and beyond. We welcome our friends from surrounding communities who wish to join us. We are very sensitive to the ongoing health crisis. Participants are asked to wear masks and maintain social distancing.
