There are three ways to get involved with our ongoing research:

Oral History Takers. We are looking for volunteers to help with an ongoing oral history project to document the lived experiences of BIPOC residents who have grown up in Hingham, raised children here, or have moved here recently. We are looking for volunteers who are willing to learn how to conduct oral histories (no experience necessary) or are already trained in taking them or have some sort of personal or professional experience interviewing people about their lives (reporter, journalist, therapist, etc).

Researchers. We are also looking for volunteers to assist with ongoing historical research for our Black History Hingham Timeline that would include utilizing the Hingham Historical Society archives including past Hingham Journals, doing research with the Mass. Historical Society, accessing census data, and other online research. Experience in historical research is helpful, but not necessary.

History Makers. If you or your family are part of our rich BIPOC heritage and are willing to share your history, please contact us.
