Spend a fun afternoon honing your understanding for easier, more effective conversations about diversity, equity, inclusion & belonging. Ever wonder what the deal is with pronouns these days? Or what exactly are microaggressions? What is the difference between cultural appreciation and cultural appropriation anyway? Or maybe you think you know but aren’t quite sure? You’re not alone! Many people hesitate to talk about issues related to identity and diversity for fear of saying the wrong thing and hurting someone’s feelings - or embarrassing themselves. We invite you to come explore these concepts in a fun, judgment-free, “word-game” atmosphere. A few promises: You WILL NOT be required to speak if you don’t want to. You may sit and listen. But, hopefully you will have an opportunity to smile and laugh. You WILL NOT be judged or otherwise made to feel embarrassed that you do or do not have a master’s degree in DEIB lingo. You WILL have fun, meet new community members, and, hopefully, learn something new and useful so you can feel more confident engaging in anti-bias dialogue in the future! This fun, community-building event is open to all Hingham students and their families - what a great way to get to know our METCO families AND our town just a little better! We will gather in the St. John's parking lot for a 1pm start to the hunt, prepared by Hingham Historical Society interns. The event will conclude with free lunch by Morrell's BBQ back at the church at 2:30pm. Please bring a reusable water bottle to take advantage of the hydration stations. Hope to see you there! What are you most concerned about in our community? How can we make Hingham more welcoming to all? When the HUC was formed in 2019, we had an open meeting with interested community members at the Hingham Community Center to have this discussion and it’s time to get together again! Come join us, enjoy some light snacks and libations, and share your thoughts about our community to shape our future programming.

Join us as we welcome Tre'Andre Carmel Valentine, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition and Dr. Katie McBrine, local pediatrician, for an important evening of understanding and discussion about gender, sexuality and supporting our transgender youth and friends in the community.
