We are Hingham: Words with Neighbors

Hingham Heritage Museum 34 Main Street, Hingham, MA, United States

Spend a fun afternoon honing your understanding for easier, more effective conversations about diversity, equity, inclusion & belonging. Ever wonder what the deal is with pronouns these days? Or what exactly are microaggressions? What is the difference between cultural appreciation and cultural appropriation anyway? Or maybe you think you know but aren’t quite sure? You’re not alone! Many people hesitate to talk about issues related to identity and diversity for fear of saying the wrong thing and hurting someone’s feelings - or embarrassing themselves. We invite you to come explore these concepts in a fun, judgment-free, “word-game” atmosphere. A few promises: You WILL NOT be required to speak if you don’t want to. You may sit and listen. But, hopefully you will have an opportunity to smile and laugh. You WILL NOT be judged or otherwise made to feel embarrassed that you do or do not have a master’s degree in DEIB lingo. You WILL have fun, meet new community members, and, hopefully, learn something new and useful so you can feel more confident engaging in anti-bias dialogue in the future! There WILL be free light refreshments. Please register in advance using the form below as space is limited!
