    We are pleased to share that the Hingham Human Rights Commission has added a special agenda item to their June Meeting: The Hingham Unity Council will provide an immigration law focused Know Your Rights presentation. The training will also include best practices for bystanders and information regarding Hingham Police Department policies and procedures presented by the Hingham Police Chief and Civil Rights Office.     An Immigration Law-Focused Know Your Rights Presentation This training will be conducted by two attorneys who do immigration work and will include an overview of immigrants' due process rights, best practices for bystanders who witness ICE activity, and information regarding the Duxbury Police Department's policies and procedures. The session will also include practical guidance for business owners to help them best prepare and address immigration-related actions in the workplace.     What are you most concerned about in our community? How can we make Hingham more welcoming to all? This is an informal gathering for EVERYONE. Whether you've been to one HUC, dozens or none at all, you are welcome to join the conversation. There will be no formal group discussion, just enjoy complimentary tea, coffee and snacks, share your thoughts to shape our future programming and help us create a mobile mural! Anyone with a connection to Hingham is welcome! ***This event is FREE. However, we will be collecting monetary donations to support 4 local food pantries (Hingham, Quincy Interfaith, Wellspring & Weymouth food pantries). We have been told money is the best way to help.     Join us via zoom to learn more about the state of immigration in our country right now, including facts about legal pathways to citizenship, some current enforcement statistics, bystander best practices, and safety precautions. We will also provide some options for how to support our immigrant communities presented by Philip Warren White of La Colaborativa in Chelsea, MA and Courtney Orwig, who will discuss opportunities at My Brother's Keeper in Brockton. Hingham's Chief of Police David Jones will join us to discuss the HPD's responsibilities in the current environment. REGISTER
